Full Name: Arawn Gandalih Danann
Classification: High King of the Unseelie Court - Autumn/Winter Fae
Gender: Male
Age: His age is hard to comprehend in human terms – but he appears to be in his late Twenties
Appearance: Arawn stands at an impressive height of 6'5" and has an slender yet obviously toned body frame. He holds himself like an aristocrat, shoulders back, chest slightly raised forward, and spine straight. His features are chiseled, though Arawn's features have an oddly cruel and aristocratic set to them. His eyes are the color of fresh blood and long straight black and silver hair flows off his shoulders, and down his back before terminating at waist level. Wisps of his hair frame his face - occasionally falling into his eyes, and seems to enhance his pale skin.
Arawn's clothing while in court is usually white and somewhat billowy in nature to highlight his pale coloring and body structure, a vanity that he's affected to appear even more ethereal and enigmatic than usual. While out and about his Kingdom, he can normally be seen in black leather adorned with silver and sometimes gold. He has a few scars over his body, though they for the most part are always covered by his clothing. While he's not usually one to wear jewelery of any sort, he does wear a silver medallion around his neck which has been passed down through his family since before time was ever recorded.
Power List: Wintertide Charm, Hand of Blood, Command Obscurity
Detailed Power:
- Wintertide Charm ~ Being an autumn/winter Fae, he has power relating to those seasons. Frost, snow, and blizzards are things he enjoys. He can make the temperature around him go down if he chooses to, something he enjoys doing during summer months were humans are prone to wear less clothing than normal. He can create frost and even snow, most of the time he uses them for entertainment at the expense of others. His body temperature is always cool, so cold weather itself has no effect on him whatsoever. He can cause plants to wither up and die, and has been known to use this to annoy his wife.
- Hand of Blood ~ He has the ability to cause any wound to bleed excessively. Though, he has to be within five feet of the wounded and have established eye contact in order to make this happen.
- Command Obscurity ~ He has the ability to call forth shadows, cloaking the area around him and others in complete darkness. This area normally doesn't exceed more than twnety feet in any direction.
Alignment: Unaligned
Weapons: A sword with an obsidian blade It’s only power is that whenever it pierces skin, the wounded is struck blind while a dangerous frost sweeps across their flesh. A pair of Fae Daggers which so far have never missed their mark.
Personality:
Arawn has a very complicated personality, that only truly comes out when he is angry. He can be distasteful, rude, and even at times violent. He usually isn't mad, though one of the easiest ways to get him mad is to openly flirt with his wife. He finds his wife's 'suitors' annoying, and will not hesitate to try and humiliate them or in extreme cases cause them bodily harm. While he's not 'in love' with Indira, he almost views her as a possession and as such, he doesn't want anyone else edging around her. He does at times exhibit a velvety darkness that sort of draws others to him. He's been know to push boundaries and at times tries to make Indira jealous - but it never works and normally, Arawn ends up brooding over the fact.
He has no problem with doing what others might consider 'bad things', in fact it seems as though he sometimes goes out of his way to ensure he does them. He doesn't see any reason to be 'nice' to humans or non magical creatures, he's hardly nice to magical ones, so any that fall outside? Not likely. He's a natural born leader though, and he's quite good at giving orders and standing in front of his subjects and giving incredible speeches when he wants something to go his way. Arawn's a fighter, above all, he loves a good bloody combat. He takes his role as a warrior and defender of the Fae quite passionately, but sometimes he tends to go to extremes. He would never harass his own kind without reasons, but he wouldn't hesitate to kill any, Fae included if he felt those close to him were in jeopardy. He's not evil though, as he was born and raised to be a warrior he tends to be more predacious than most of his kind.
Skills: He's greatly skilled with the sword, the crossbow and battle strategy. He's a seasoned ruler, and while he might not understand his wife's side of the kingdom, he at least tries to appear to. He's also quite skilled when it comes to harassing mortals. He doesn't do it a lot, but when he does, no one can say he didn't make an effort.
Strengths and Weaknesses: He is incredibly well trained in combat and it is rare he is bested in a fight. He's trained many many years and takes great pride in his fighting abilities. If Arawn has any bad habits, he chooses to not think of them and if any wish to claim that he has bad habits, he will be more than willing to meet them in a duel and demand restitution for the grave insult that he feels he has been the victim of. But, if you must know, he isn't a very social creature and actually tends to avoid court as much as possible. His temper seems to get the best of him at times, and it is actually a good idea to try and stay on his 'good' side, for his motto tends to be: 'an eye for an eye'.
History: Having been in existence since before humans picked up a sword, the Fae lived in harmony with magic and the forest around them. They thought they were the only beings attuned to magic, but they were wrong. Humans began to show signs of magical talent. The Fae community was divided concerning how to handle the situation. They weren't sure whether they should help the humans with their magical abilities or if they should sit back and let nature take it's course. After long deliberations, the Fae decided to let the humans grow as nature dictated, and they themselves retreated further into their own Kingdom.
It was was when the first Vrial became King that the Fae once again became concerned with the ways of man. This King was different than the others had been. He didn't seem to respect the Fae's boundaries and seemed to be trying to draw the Fae into his wars. Once again, the Fae were divided on how to handle the current situation. Half wanted to slaughter the King and all whom followed him; the other half wanted to help those affected by the King's rule. Since neither was willing to compromise, it was decided that they would instead veil their Kingdom from the eyes of humans. If the humans couldn't see them, the Fae were convinced that they would also forget them.
Their Kingdom only became even further divided. There were the Fae who hated the humans for forcing the veiling of the land. And then there were those who had sympathy and hoped that perhaps one day in the far future that Fae and humans would be able to live in harmony once again. The two sides became known as the Seelie - those who were sympathetic with humans and the Unseelie - those who wanted nothing more than to destroy them all. The two sides ended up splitting their own Kingdom up - the Seelie taking the middle part of the Kingdom that rested deep within the valley, and the Unseelie took to the mountains surrounding the valley. The two sides, worked together though as they still needed each other. The Seelie provided fresh fruits and vegetation to the Unseelie and in return, the Unseelie protected the borders.
The Fae remained in their separate kingdoms for centuries, each ruled by a different set of kings and queens. That is until Leviathar Vrial returned and reconquered Cadrial-Tiein. The Fae--with their affinity to all things magical--sensed the great power that Leviathar carried with him, the Phoenix Tear. Deciding that the time for disunity had passed, the Kings of the two Fae kingdoms agreed to the arranged marriage of their children, after which both rulers abdicated their thrones in favor of the newly married couple, thus reuniting the Fae into one kingdom.
Arawn, the newly crowned Unseelie King was not happy with the arrangement his father made. He viewed his bride as nothing more than an airhead who seemed interested in nothing more than flowers and rainbows and he wanted nothing to do with her. To him, she represented everything he detested. Neither seemed to want to spend any time with the other, and for the first couple years of their marriage, they kept to their own Palaces and only dealt with each other in the new joint court. But over time, he found himself watching her in secret, and had to admit that she could be rather charming and witty when she chose to be. Though, as charming as Indira seemed to be, Arawn soon found that she was enjoying others company, and this did not please him at all. The fact that he heard this from other members of court made him all the more angry. He vowed that his wife would soon see the errors of her way.
He absolutely refused to let his wife make a fool of him - even though that had never been the intent of the young Queen. He'd found out about Indira's group of 'suitors' and quickly made an example of one. No one talks of what happened to this Fae, but all now know that Indira is indeed off limits to all except the King. Much to his surprise Indira didn't seem all that bothered by what had happened and instead she seemed to become more interested in him. At first he was a bit suspicious, but slowly it began to fade away, and he too found himself becoming more intrigued with the Seelie Queen. He tried to act as though he wasn't, but he knew deep down he was failing miserably for he found himself watching her more and more and actually accompanying her on some of her tours of the Kingdom.
The couple have been married for a little over six years, and they now find themselves watching the humans - their interest growing more and more with each day. Indira's interest seems to be caught by the fact that many of the humans have great magic and have seemed to begin to realize that all magic is intertwined. Arawn, on the other hand - only seems interested in the war that seems to be brewing between the different human nations. He seems almost happy with it, much to Indira's confusion. But both have decided to take a 'wait-and-see' approach before they decide to break their isolation and make their presence known once again to the world of humans.
